i could alternatively connect my devices to the hotspot of the same name on my phone, but i don't have unlimited data, so i don't want to use my phone data for streaming.ĭoes anyone have any idea of what might've gone wrong? or if there's anything i could maybe do to try and fix it? i've already restarted the hotspot several times, tried connecting to a different uni network, restarted my computer. my computer's connected to the uni network just fine, no dropping out.

normally my google home speaker connects automatically, and that is how i usually check that the hotspot's on and can connect my other devices today, it's not connecting at all. i literally have not touched the connectify settings at all. the longest i've been able to connect on my streaming stick, i was able to watch maybe a quarter of a 15-min youtube video before it disconnected? the hotspot just keeps popping in and out for some reason. or they do connect to it, but then the connection drops out in a minute or two. my devices don't seem to find it? or when they do, they try to connect to it and fail. The issue is that now, when i restarted connectify and tried to start a hotspot with the uni network like i usually do, it tells me the hotspot is active, but. i turned off my phone's hotspot, and to this point am browsing the internet on my computer just fine. once the university network came back, i was able to connect just as usual. what i did in the meantime was to use my phone to make a hotspot with the same name out of my phone data, so i could use the internet temporarily. the network was down for maybe half an hour. this has happened before and i didn't have any issues, so i assumed it wasn't a big deal. Today, the university network dropped out on us unexpectedly, while my connectify hotspot was on.

i've got the lifetime license to connectify, i think, so i've been using it without many issues for years. so what i normally do is i connect through my computer, then use connectify to generate a hotspot that only requires a password to connect, and connect all my devices to that hotspot.

because it requires a username/password combo to connect, that means i can't connect directly through many of my devices such as streaming sticks, gaming consoles, speakers, etc. i live in a university dorm, and use the university network for internet access. Before i say anything: i am very, very not networking savvy (which is why connectify has been my savior for years, it's usually easy to use) so please bear that in mind before replying.
